I’m curious about the conflicting survivor accounts of Titanic’s final moments. We can clearly see that the ship broke in two as it sank as the bow and stern are broken apart and are a long distance apart on the sea floor, but many survivors and people in general at the time insisted that it went down in one piece. Other survivors did say the ship boke apart, but only a small number seem to have believed that.
Why was there such a strong belief among many survivors and others, that the ship did not break apart? Did they simply not see it?
