I am looking for more information about this White Star Line booklet
Hi there.
I'm new to this forum and I need some help.
I bought this booklet today. Here is information about what is on the ships, price list for barber, times when they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, time when to change the clock 45 minutes backwards, a passenger list of second class from R.M.S Cedric and and where the White Star Line offices are located.
Its date is Saturday, 3rd November 1923. Almost 100 years ago.
My questions are as follows :
From which White Star Line ship does this booklet come from?
Is this booklet genuine?
Have anyone more to tell, please write here.

Re: I am looking for more information about this White Star Line booklet
Hi, that looks like a very interesting find and something I'd like to see myself.
It looks fairly similar to a booklet known to have been given to first class passengers aboard Titanic in 1912 containing a list of first class passengers names, though yours seems to contain more information about the ship than that one.
Apparently both first class and second class passengers were given a passenger list I assume like this; I assume in this case to second class passengers aboard Cedric, which was entered service on the Liverpool to New York route in 1903.
I really couldn't say if it is genuine or not, though personally I see no reason for it not to be.
Where did you find it?

Thanks for your reply.
What you write sounds interesting. Why did they give out the passenger lists to almost everyone onboard? I'm thinking of the person's integrity. Everyone knows your name and so on.
Do you want more pictures of the booklet?
A person sold it on Facebook here in Finland.
Re: I am looking for more information about this White Star Line booklet
Your welcome.
I think it was just seen as a good way for the passengers to find out who was aboard. Particularly in first class there may have been some familiar names to them. It appears not unknown though for passengers wanting to keep a low profile to sail using assumed names rather than their own!
Thank you, If you don't mind, more pictures will be very good to see.

Here's where you can find the White Star Line offices. It's actually interesting.
I will not publish the passenger list because I do not know how their relatives will react to it.

Re: I am looking for more information about this White Star Line booklet
It was quite common at the time. I have an interesting timeframe of travel of some of my family due to their names being posted in the newspaper arriving on the ship, and this is in Vancouver Canada paper that they arrived in New York. They travelled high enough class to warrant this. I even know what hotel they stayed at in Vancouver, BC on their way from Southampton via New York, on their way to Vancouver Island in 1892.
You must remember, there was no other form of communication at the time these lists would have been the equivalent of a social media group for people going in a cruise.
